St. Martin's Island is a little island in the northeastern piece of the Bay of Bengal, around 9 km south of the tip of the Cox's Bazar-Teknaf landmass, and framing the southernmost piece of Bangladesh. It's area is about 8 km2.It is around 8 kilometers (5 miles) west of the northwest bank of Myanmar, at the mouth of the Naf River.
The primary settlement began 250 years prior by Arabian mariners who named the island 'Jazeera'. Amid British occupation the island was named St. Martin Island. Amid the First Anglo-Burmese War between the British and Burmese realms in 1824–1826, match cases to the island were a main consideration. The nearby names of the island are "Narikel jinjira, which signifies 'Coconut Island' in Bengali, and "Daruchini Dwip". It is the main coral island in Bangladesh.
The best way to achieve St. Martin's Island is by water transportation: pontoons and boats from Teknaf. There are few or no cabs, tarred streets, or power. With the exception of the bigger inns that keep running on generators. The island is about sun, ocean and palm trees. Amid the day, it wakes up with water and shoreline sports, with shoreline gatherings and blazes illuminating the night skies.
